A few things.... 1. The Grand Lunch is this Friday. Also come look at the Scholastic Book Fair. 2. BizTown Update: We go to BizTown on March 18 which is a Wednesday. We need to leave early, at 8:00 am so kids will need to be at school by 7:45. For parents who are volunteering, I will come as early as 7 so if it would make it easier for you to drop your child off and then drive to Portland, please let me know. Volunteers need to be at BizTown by 8.

I am so excited for the new school year. I can't wait to know your family and begin teaching your child. I absolutely love teaching and I promise to do everything I can to make this a spectacular year for all of you. A little about me: I have been teaching for 18 years and all at Crater. I have taught both 4th and 5th so I know exactly what your child needs to progress to the next year, as well as to be prepared for middle school. I have been married for almost 30 years. I have two kids. My daughter is getting married in September so I have had a busy summer. She is a nurse in the emergency room. My son is finishing up at George Fox and will graduate in December. I live in Newberg.
I have a yearly Book Club!!!
Every year, I run a book club. This is one of my most favorite projects. I start this right away and we have our first meeting at the end of September so I will getting information out quickly. It is a big commitment each month. We meet once a month and I plan activities based on the book. I have some information below if you click on the file. Students will need to commit to reading the book each month. I provide the books and they cannot pick and choose what books they want to read, nor come to only some of the meetings. It needs to be a full commitment (minus emergencies or sickness of course). Please understand this and really think about if this club works for the whole family. Parents can read the book to their child, or you can get the book on CD and listen to it. If your child makes the commitment, I assure you it will be a memorable and educational time. It has been a favorite of many students. Let me know if you have questions. First few dates: September 26 from 4-5 October 17 from 4-5 November 21 from 4-5 December 19 from 4-5
